Somaich Achim
Somaich Achim, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors," was started at the behest of the Rosh HaYeshiva and local Rabbanim of Clifton and Passaic. It is a case management program designed to help individuals and families in crisis withstand extreme difficulty, tragedy or illness. They are helped by providing an in-home professional social worker who helps the family access services and develop plans for improving their life situations. The social worker is a bridge for many of the families to the other professional services at Jewish Family Service and the Riskin Children's Center.
Currently there are over 50 families from the community participating in the program. Most of these are families with several children. Virtually all of the participants have severe financial needs. The services of the program are provided at no cost to the family. Generous donors who are committed to sustaining families have enabled this program to continue its life saving work.
